Is it right to ask for social media profile passwords?

Employers asking for social media profile passwords has become a hotly debated topics in HR circles. Many employers justify the trend by claiming that social media profiles help them find the right candidates, and screen out candidates who have demonstrated questionable discretion with their online posting.  Apart from being burdensome and time-consuming, the process violates an individual’s privacy as well as goes against Facebook and other social media’s term of use agreements.
